The Invisalign system is a virtually invisible treatment that uses an innovative approach to gently yet effectively straighten your teeth. Through a series of custom-made removable aligners made with unique technology, the Invisalign system gradually and predictable moves your teeth to your desired position.
How does the Invisalign System work?
Our Invisalign trained doctors will start off with a comprehensive consultation to understand your concerns and discover your needs. We will be able to show you a few of our past cases that are similar to yours. On that first consult, we will also provide you with a cost estimate and payment plan.
The next step involves record taking: photos, X-rays and a 3D digital impression scan will be done for your teeth and these records would be used to custom create your unique treatment plan. With the treatment plan, you will be able to see the final position your teeth are predicted to reach after treatment. This treatment plan is used to develop your customised aligners and also estimate the likely length of your treatment.
Once the treatment plan (Clincheck) is ready, we will invite you for a detailed discussion so that you will have a thorough understanding of the treatment process.
When you are happy to proceed, we will place the order for the aligners and they will take three weeks to be manufactured and shipped to our practice.
We start off with three sets of aligners given to you to wear for ten days each aligner. After 30 days, you will return the clinic and we will assess to ensure you are managing well. The aligners have to be fitting closely to your teeth for optimum teeth movement. We will provide you with the next few sets of aligners and arrange your next review appointment. Generally, most patients will be seen approximately 6-8 weeks.
After your teeth are straightened, you will need to wear retainers to ensure your newly aligned teeth stay in position. The retainers need to be worn full time for 3 months and then only during sleep after.
What is life like with Invisalign Treatment?
Invisalign clear aligners are barely noticeable. Many of our patients have told us that their friends have not even notice that they are going though treatment. You can do your usual sports without worrying about sharp metal braces brackets irritating your mouth or causing injuries. Eat and drink whatever you like, you remove your aligners when you eat and pop them back on when you finish. The discomfort from Invisalign is also 9 times lesser than traditional fixed metal braces, because the Invisalign System uses innovative SmartForce features and Smart Track material technologies which result in predictable and comfortable teeth movement. However, do keep in mind that the aligners have to be worn for 20-22 hours a day. We like to make sure that all our patients understand that commitment before embarking on the Invisalign journey. There is much pre-planning and monitoring during treatment but essentially for you as a patient, all you need to do is wear your aligners, we will take care of the rest.
